K9 Boomer mug is at consign Furniture

Boomer was the odd ball on the K9 team. He’s a handsome hound dog, a Vizsla breed originating from Hungary. He is now retired, but did a great job while he was on the WCSO team. We are honoring his service with a mug since he was active for over five months of the year. Our For Kids page has other pictures and activities featuring our dog of the month, so check it out.

Team Honors Sgt. Van Der Wall & K9 Boomer

From the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office:
A K9 Unit tradition: Today the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office K9 Team, along with members of the Northern Nevada Interdiction Task Force including Reno Police officers, surprised WCSO Sergeant Sam Van Der Wall.

Sgt. Van Der Wall recently promoted, and his K9 partner, Boomer, retired. They leave pretty big paws to fill as the Van Der Wall-Boomer duo had some amazing busts getting drugs off the streets of Northern Nevada.

Today, the team held a surprise ceremony and gifted Sgt. Van Der Wall these plaques.

K9 Ava’s mug is coming!

Tomorrow is the release day for our July K9 mug. It’s not a secret; it’s Ava! The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office leaked the information about a week ago. Check back tomorrow to find out how to get your K9 Ava Mug.

Huge Thanks to Lithia Reno Subura!

Lithia Reno Subaru presented this fantastic donation of $35,079 during the Barks and Badges event on Saturday, June 26th! This is a wonderful donation through their Subaru Share the Love Event . K9 Partners is thrilled and grateful to be a recipient of this money. Without the support of our community and the businesses in the Reno-Sparks area, we would not be able to provide everything needed for our Washoe County K9s to allow them to do the great job they do for the entire county.

Thank you to Chip Ciciovan and his great team at Lithia Reno Subaru and the national Share the Love program from Subaru for supporting our efforts for our K9s. You help to make so much possible for us!

June 26 – It’s Today! Barks and Badges

We’re getting set-up at Bartley Ranch in the wee early hours this morning to welcome you to our family fun day at Barks and Badges. Lots will be happening beginning at 9:30 am, so come out in the cooler part of the day to meet our K9s and see some great demonstrations of how the dogs help protect the community.

6:30 am – Getting the set up for the day. We can’t wait to see you here!

We have great vendors, information booths, and food trucks. We have a whole area of games for the kids, so come on down! Be sure to stop by the K9 Partners booth and say hello. We’ll be here until 2:00 pm today!
